This product works very well and my wife loves the size light weight of it. 30 minute battery life suits her just fine.

Handy Little Tool
This shrubber did a great job trimming my bushes and landscaping. The blade is short, making the shrubber very easy to handle. It's also lightweight, so there was no fatigue associated with the job. Since it is cordless, there's no worry about slicing through power cords. Also, unlike gas powered garden tools, it is very quiet during operation. It's probably not the best for very large hedges due to its short blade and small size. There was plenty of power to complete my landscaping job before losing the charge. All in all, I think the B&D cordless electric shrubber was a good value for its cost!

The 6 volt cordless electric shrubber
The shrubber is ideal for what it was made for. It does a good job triming small branches or twigs. It should only be used for new growth, not last years growth. The battery time will give one about 20 minutes of cutting.

lightweight worker
Got this trimmer for my wife. She loves it compared to the power trimmer we had previously. It is very light and perfect for light trimming of small shrubs and plants. Good tool for these types of jobs.

So-So power clippers
Fair performance. Requires 3-5 times going over items to be trimmed. Will not cut branches larger than 1/4" diameter.

Great Electric Mower
This is my second rechargeable electric mower. Great performer. No need to store flammable gas and oil. Charges overnight. Comes installed. Green machine - saves the environment!

Exceeds expectations
After having yet another gasoline mower die on me, and with gas over /gallon, I decided to try a cordless mower. I knew a corded electric would never do - cumbersome, and doubtless I'd manage to run over the cord. After a summer of mowing our lawn with this machine, it's far exceeded my expectations.

* The difference is apparent from the moment you first use the mower. After years of struggling with starters on mowers, it's stunning to have one turn on and off as easily as turning a light switch. And no fooling with engine oil, filling the gas tank, etc. Just plug it in overnight and it's ready to go in the morning. Our yard is about 20x30 feet in the front and 60x30 feet in the back, and even with thick overgrown grass and the mulch setting, I have yet to drain a charge with one mowing.

* The mower is MUCH quieter than a typical gas-powered engine. With it set on mulch, it's about as loud as a hair-dryer. Enough not to annoy the neighbors if you mow early in the morning.

* Cutting & mulching is very efficient; not as much clumping of clippings like I had with my last few mowers, especially on thick patches.

* The unit is HEAVY, mostly because of the battery. Hills are thus a bit of a workout.

* The excessive plastic gives it a bit of a cheap feeling, and there are some annoying requirements, such as a key to turn on the unit that one could easily lose. The blade does not cover the entire width of the mower, so you have to overlap your mowing paths a bit more. But overall, really minor concerns with an otherwise excellent machine.

* Do you really save money over a gas mower? Probably not. Although it costs much less to run the electric motor, the cost difference is enough that I can't imagine you'd ever recoup it, even if gas prices got much worse. However, the advantages of the electric motor make it worth the extra cost. I never, ever thought I'd say I actually liked a lawn mower, but this one is different. You won't be disappointed.

CORDLESS MOWER
This is a easy to use mower. Handles very well. Only runs for about 40 minutes on a full charge and doesnt have the option to replace the battery with a fresh one. So, if you have a big yard, get something else. This would be perfect for a small yard!

Heighth adjustment issue
Out of the box, the mower's heighth adjustment mechanism wouldn't lock in place. I assume it was damaged in transit. I took it to a local electric repair shop that Black & Decker referred me to. They sent for a part and 2 weeks later I picked it up and took it home. I was trying to use it for the first time when the heighth adjustment slipped out and wouldn't lock again. The guys at the repair shop gave it another go and it worked this time. They were good guys at the repair shop and they did try to reassure that I hadn't bought a lemon. I tried it out and it worked fine. Much quieter than my gas powered mower. I try to roll with the punches in this kind of situation, and I thought there might be some humor in this back and forth. And I really want this mower to work for me. So overall it's still a work in progress. I'd love to give 5 stars, but can't just yet.

I love using this mower
The B&D cordless CMM1200 has done a great job for us. Our old Sear gas mower lasted over ten years of my own neglect but it had rusted through and then wouldn't run any longer. Unfortunately it was at the end of the mowing season. I didn't want to spend this musch on a mower but it was worth it. I haven't really noticed any of the problems others noted. The instruction book is fairly clear. It is easy to adjust the cutting height. I'm pretty tall so I extended the handle to the top adjustment. It came with at least a partial charge so I mowed right away. I would say it is quieter than my old mower but not quiet. It doesn't scare our dogs as much except when I ran it in the house. Try that with a gas mower. Also it is fairly heavy. This fall I used it to mulch leaves more than really mow. I ended up mulching first and then bagging to get most of it to put in our compost. On a full charge I can easily finish the mowing. The bag does allow a lot of dust to come out so if it is really dry you and the mower will be a mess. I'm not sure if I should do it but I very carefully rinse the deck off and the blade area underneath. I really enjoy using it. If it had a hepa filter I'd probably try to use it as a vacuum cleaner in the house!

This is the best product i have purchased in years. Small and compact, yet,, enough TORQUE to twist out of my hands. I can't say enough. This thing is AWESOME!!

Great Little Driver
I have used this driver several times. I install closet shelving, and have used it to drive 200 #8x2" wood screws with a very aggressive thread, through 1/2" drywall, into 2x4 studs, without switching batteries!

Pros: Battery lasts! Compact and light. Strong torque. Clutch works great. No "chuck" to spin against your work, and scratch it up. Battery indicator is great. Spare battery is small enough to keep in your tool belt without weighing you down. Charges quickly.

Cons: I'm left-handed, and it's very easy to switch the forward/reverse switch. I pull the trigger with my middle finger. It's very comfortable that way. The light is powerful, but a little annoying sometimes. You have to use a special holder for a drill bit IF you want to drill. But, this isn't a drill, it's a driver. The RPM's are a little slow, but I imagine to get more RPM's you either gain size or weight.

This has taken the place of my 18V drill/driver for driving screws. I still use the 18V to drill, but switching to this for driving sure has helped my shoulder. 200 screws without charging! That's pretty amazing to me.

Awesome tool
Powerful enough to drive and drill. Battery life is good and the batteries charge quickly. I thought the light was a little much, but wouldn't you know, I have used it.

Great little drill/driver
The Milwaukee 2401-22 is a small, powerful, lightweight, well balanced drill/driver. It comes with 2 long-life batteries that charge in 30 minutes. Combined with a Milwaukee drill chuck, its everything this homeowner needs for home projects. I used it on 3 inch deck screws on a shelving project. A friend who is a professional remodeler uses one for all his lighter duty work. I may buy some of these for Christmas presents!

Indulgent Impulse Buy at First, Now a Household Essential
Although I thought I'd made a questionable impulse buy, I wasn't surprised to discover it was a high quality tool out of the box (you only need to hold a Milwaukee tool to know they're well-made). As for whether I really needed it or had enough things to use it for, I've done at least two minor home improvement/repair projects that my fiancee never bugged me to do at this point so I think that speaks for itself.

Power?

First of all it does drill. If you thought it was going to drill fast, you had unreasonable expectations. It's not a 2 lb. replacement for the V28 drill or one of Milwaukee's corded wonders. With driving in mind, it has a low RPM rating even though it has enough torque to actually jerk your hand a touch. It's a good thing it has so many clutch settings because you can actually do damage with the little guy if you leave it on the drill setting and you're not careful driving with it. So yes, not fast but plenty of power. Read the manual for a rough idea of what to set the clutch at.

If you actually need to drill more than a handful of holes with it, get some high quality bits and Milwaukee's 1/4" hex to 3/8" drill chuck adapter. It still doesn't replace a heavier duty corded or cordless drill but it makes a world of difference in speed of drilling and drill bit options.

Battery

This is my first Li-Ion tool and I'm blown away. I've had it a couple weeks now and used it for 4-5 random home projects and some gratuitous drilling tests in some scrap wood. The battery currently in use holds its charge when inactive and hasn't dropped a light yet. The batteries recharged in about 30 minutes out of the box as advertised.

Hopefully the Hackzall chews through batteries at least four times faster than this drill because I'm planning on getting the kit for the impact driver rebate and I have no idea what I'm going to do with 4 batteries if it doesn't. Sell them on e-bay I guess :)

Quality/Design

It feels rock solid in my hand and all of the black stuff you see on the tool (including the top) is made from a black rubber grip material that makes the drill easy to handle. It feels good in your hand and the weight and balance of it is perfect.

The chuck is awesome. It locks shank bits in tight, has good stability, is very easy to use, has no identifiable wobble for me and it has just enough spring in it to actually eject hot bits if you want to but if the drill is angled up a smidge they won't fly out on you.

It makes excellent use of LEDs. Battery indicators are essential on Li-Ion tools since they give very little indication that they're about to run out of juice by losing power (manual says power will drop just long enough to finish a task while letting you know you need to replace the battery but I can't verify that yet - which is impressive, IMO).

Anybody who has ever had to get under a desk in a dimly lit cubicle farm won't need to ask whether the light was worth implementing. Great feature. I don't know what its critics are talking about. I have no problem finding screws in the dark with it.

Aesthetic

No practical-minded man wants to fess up to this but ugly tools... well, let's just say I'm glad Milwaukee, Bosch, and Makita all tend to outperform DeWalt so I could avoid feeling childish for having a dilemma that's not 100% performance-related. It almost looks like an atomic raygun from some forgotten '50s serial. I find that exceptionally cool and it probably adds more to the experience of using it than I'd like to admit but it would still be a winner if it was butt ugly.

Handle Size Issue

I have average, perhaps even smallish hands for 6'3 (or just a lot of large-handed medium height friends) and the grip is comfortable for me but if you have small hands, give it a test-drive at a hardware store with Milwaukee demo products first. I'm seeing positive reviews from a lot of women though so perhaps it's not really an issue. It's definitely wider than it looks in the pictures though which is why so many probably comment on it.

In fact, I suspect it's that width that keeps the placement of the direction switch from being an issue for most. I hit it by accident sometimes and saw a review from a self-proclaimed large-handed guy saying he had the same problem but enough to actually be a nuisance for him, whereas for me it's a minor issue that doesn't come up often.

Value

On the one hand, 0-130 still seems a bit much for the value-minded consumer who only needs something like it a few times a year. On the other, this is one of those tools you like so much, you start looking for crap to do with it. If you don't know what I mean by that, give this thing a whirl and you may suddenly remember a bunch of projects you've been putting off for a while or invent some new ones.

Also, the versatility you get out of a power tool that accepts hex bits could save you a lot of needlessly pricey purchases for one-time use items (just get the right bit instead for cheap) and it will eliminate the need to keep a wide variety of hand tools on hand. Hex to ratchet set adapters are available (I got a cheap one that covers three sizes) and I recommend Milwaukee's 3/8" hex to drill chuck adapter. If you have a crappy old 3/8" corded Black and Decker drill or equivalent around for drilling the occasional pilot hole, you can replace it with this tool.

And let's not forget Milwaukee's 5 year warranty. Not even Bosch, Milwaukee's biggest rival for quality, IMO, offers that on their power tools. The majority of negative Milwaukee reviews from people who had something go wrong with a tool rarely mention any attempt to actually talk to Milwaukee rather than Amazon for some reason.

Rebate (expires after 2008)

This is huge. Milwaukee has a tool rebate active until the end of the year. Get any two kits and you get the Impact driver for free. When it's sold as a standalone (no batteries or charger), I'm guessing the impact driver will be about 50 more bucks than this tool as a standalone. If like me, you're excited about the Hackzall, for about 90-100 bucks more than the drill/driver, impact driver, flashlight 3-tool combo kit, you get an extra charger, two more batteries and you replace the silly flashlight with a Hackzall which from the reviews I've seen is another lightweight wonder. You could sell the the extra batteries and charger and possibly pay less than you would for the combo kit. With the rebate in mind, consider this a six-star item.

Conclusion

You can't go wrong with this driver/drill as a gift and if you have even a spark of a DIY spirit, tools like this can fan that spark into a fire. It's a fine-quality tool that I expect will last beyond the point that Milwaukee stops making batteries for it in spite of being made with Chinese parts and it adds a lot of lightweight, portable versatility that will be appreciated by anybody who ever needs to screw or put a hole in something. I'm not a pro or seasoned woodworker/rehabber (yet) but I suspect it will be appreciated by the occasional picture frame-hanging homeowner who likes nice things, passionate DIYers and picky professionals alike.

I bought this drill almost a year ago. I use it professionally (I'm a helicopter mechanic) and at home. This is a very powerfull and LIGHT drill. I replaced a dewalt 18v when I bought this one. There is no way I will go back to any other drill. I use it everyday, I even used it to put up a 12' X 21' metal building. Putting up the building did put a bit of a taxing on the drill, but that is a job that is meant for a screw gun not a cordless drill. It worked excellet though. The impact has worked very well for me as well, however I haven't put it through the rigorous beatings that I have put the drill through but I'm sure it would handle it's self in the same manor. My favorite part is how quick the batteries charge you never have to worry about running out of juice.

Good Value
My 9V Makita finally went belly up so I saw this combo kit. At the time it had a rebate for a free third battery. The power of the 18 V over the old 9V is very clear to see but the battery charges in far less time so with the two that come it you should always have power close at hand. I like the hand chuck and there are more setting than I had used in the past. The light I have not used but the driver and the impact driver are both welcome new member to my tool box.

A co-worker recommended this kit though he has the two piece which means no light. I would go with either one.

I wish I'd had one 10 years ago
I don't know how many years impact drivers have been available, but I used my first last year on a Rebuilding Together project where the lead contractor had one. When I think of all the buggered screw heads I have created with my big, high torque drill, I almost weep. The impact driver does the job without fuss, never messes up even stainless steel screw heads (ss is softer than "regular" screws), is light weight, and in general is a joy to use. The 1/2" drill and flashlight were just a bonus for . Get one, you won't regret it.

Good Drill Battery life short
Makita LCT300W 18V Compact Lithium-Ion 3PC Cordless Combo I am happy with drills and light. Battery life is short but they are light and charge quickly. Have had about 4 months and working well.

I purchased a month ago instead of replacing batteries on an 8yr old porter cable 14.4V, first I am a professional user...General Contractor for more than ten years. Both in kit are lighter and more powerful than previous PC unit, light is ok..its bright but head seems a bit floppy. Time will tell if it will hold up to rough use, impact kicks A**! I can drive nearly 49 3" spline drive const. screws on single charge. It also takes the larger batteries and will drive about 90 screws. First impact I have owned and definitely the way to drive screws, less operator fatigue and less wear on bits. Batt's charge fast, bag is kinda waste it looks like a lunch bag with no x-tra room. Only wish I would have bought the kit with the radio...that's next on my list. Price was great Amazon delivered price 0 it was best going at the time...today is lower...tomorrow maybe higher? prices keep changing. Great value!
